The chief of Banglamung District, and a team of his officers decided to have a bit of a night out on the town for March 25th and picked Walking Street as good a location as any to wander about.
In the process of checking security they decided to go into a number of Walking Street€™s most popular go-go bars to see what all the fuss is about. Since they were there they decided to check that all dancers and other staff possessed identification cards and that there were no underage ladies caressing chrome poles or floating about in Jacuzzis.
The chief and his men were able to come away from each venue satisfied that all the ladies and staff of the places they checked were indeed only employing people of the correct age.
Khun Mongkon discussed with town officials the lack of security down Walking street and it was proposed to secure walking street with perimitors and have a checkpoint system for all people entering walking street, to fund this operation it was suggested and agreed 100 baht entrance fee to Walking Street.
The checkpoints and security system will be set up within 2 months and all personal will require I.D to enter along with a modest 100 baht fee, this will provide a safer and hassle free environment for all tourists. Thai workers will be required to show ID but no entrance fee is required.
